Local developer Rivar has recently been granted consent to convert 6-12 Cromwell Place in to 2 bed cottages having agreed to purchase the freehold from the Newbury United Reformed Church. Acting on behalf of the vendor Paul Richardson commented "this is good news for the terrace which is reported to be one of the oldest in Newbury. It will be interesting to see it return to residential use almost 300 years after first being built for that exact purpose" .
